Hyundai Elantra Specials

The Hyundai Elantra Is Premium, Affordable, and Stylish

The Hyundai Elantra is the most affordable model in the automaker's lineup, providing luxury and premium features on a budget. You still get the reliability associated with a Hyundai, but in a package that you can afford. The Elantra offers multiple configurations and despite its low price, you can enjoy all of the high-end features you want, such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather upholstery, a sunroof, and advanced safety. The interior of the Elantra is surprisingly spacious given its small exterior footprint, and the seats are nice and comfortable. Experts and owners alike agree that the technology is intuitive to use and thanks to the engine choices, you will be taking advantage of excellent fuel economy. With the different trims available and their various configurations, it is easy to select an Elantra that fits you and your family's needs.

How the 2017 Elantra Was Updated

The 2017 Hyundai Elantra was actually completely redesigned, making it nearly impossible to list all of the updates in a concise manner. Right from the start, you will notice exterior differences between the models with the new 2017 Elantra feeling more mature with subtle yet handsome styling that more closely resembles that of the midsize Sonata. Adaptive xenon headlights have also become an option, giving you increased visibility. Keep in mind that while previous Elantras were offered as a coupe or sedan in addition to the GT hatchback, the coupe is discontinued for the 2017 model. The interior of the 2017 Elantra continues the trend of seeming more mature with a large center control stack that has become more user friendly. The overall design of the interior also feels more traditional and upscale, offering space and comfort.

Of course, the interior features also separate the 2017 Elantra from the 2016 model. The largest available touchscreen is now 8 inches instead of 7, and you can opt for adaptive cruise control, and 8 speakers of Infinity sound. The latest version of the Hyundai Elantra even features new powertrains, making for an even smoother ride. The base 147-horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder is similar to the previous base engine, but with two extra horsepower. The Elantra Eco has a new 128-horsepower 1.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that always works with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, providing a peppy, yet efficient engine. The 2017 Elantra also lengthened the list of available safety features to include forward collision warning featuring automatic braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind spot warning.

Looking at the History of the Elantra

The Hyundai Elantra first became available in the United States in 1991 with an engine designed by Mitsubishi that would be replaced in 1994 with a larger one. A station wagon became an option in 1996 and the engines continued to become more powerful and larger, if only slightly. In 2001, the Elantra marked the third generation and a dramatic increase to vehicle's popularity. It was available as a GT hatchback or GLS sedan and standard features that included power accessories, power steering, air conditioning, and front side plus front airbags. There was a facelift in 2004 and a new sedan with a stiffer suspension, leather seats, and other upgrades. By the time the fifth generation Elantra arrived in 2011, it was a game changer with up to 40 mpg* and plenty of upscale features.
